Everything you need to know about the PIKA Zero 9 electric scooter — the honest 30 mph-class commuter that folds under your desk. If your question isn't here, email us at info@pikaescooters.com.

About the Zero 9

Is the Zero 9 really a 30 mph electric scooter?

It's a 30 mph-class scooter — GPS-verified at about 29 mph for an average rider on level ground. We call it a "30 mph electric scooter" because that's the category riders search for, but we publish the real number instead of rounding up. That honesty is the whole point of PIKA.

What's the real range on a full charge?

Up to 25 miles per charge. Real range depends on your speed, weight, terrain, and temperature — ride relaxed and you'll go further; ride flat-out and it'll be less. Range is a spectrum, not a billboard number.

How powerful is the motor?

A 600W motor (48V, 20A controller) — enough torque to keep up with city traffic and climb inclines up to about 10% without bogging down.

How much does it weigh?

About 40 lb (18 kg). We'll be straight with you: this is not an ultralight. It folds small and rolls easily, and lifting it into a trunk or carrying it a short flight of stairs is fine — but if you need to carry a scooter up multiple floors every single day, a lighter (and pricier, less comfortable) scooter may suit you better.

How small does it fold, and how does the fold work?

It folds in seconds using folding handlebars and a telescoping stem, down to roughly 39 × 8 × 15 inches — narrow enough to store under a desk, in a car trunk, in a closet, or by your front door.

What kind of tires does it have?

Front and rear 8.5-inch pneumatic (air-filled) tires. Air tires ride far smoother than solid ones over cracked city pavement. A split-rim design also makes tire service easier than on most scooters.

What brakes does it use?

A dual system: a front disc brake and a rear drum brake — two independent brakes for short, controlled stops at real commuter speed.

Does it have suspension?

Yes — dual spring suspension (front and rear), which works with the air tires to smooth out bumps and potholes.

What's the battery and how long does it take to charge?

A 48V 13Ah battery, which takes roughly 6 hours for a full charge from empty.

Does it have lights?

Yes — bright front and rear LED lights, plus a rear brake light, so you're visible on early-morning and evening rides.

What's the maximum rider weight?

The Zero 9 supports riders up to 220 lb.

Buying the Zero 9

How much does the Zero 9 cost?

The Zero 9 is currently $799 (regularly $1,099) with free US shipping.

Is the Zero 9 right for me?

It's built for you if your trips are roughly 1–8 miles, you want a comfortable ride (dual suspension, air tires), and you need to store it indoors. It's not the right pick if you need the absolute lightest scooter, want to carry it up stairs every day, or want 40+ mph performance.

How does it compare to other scooters?

Against a same-priced scooter like the Ninebot F2 Pro, the Zero 9 folds much smaller and has folding handlebars. Against ultralights like the Fluid Mosquito or NIU KQi Air, those are lighter to carry but cost more and ride less comfortably. The Zero 9's lane is compact-fold commuter comfort at a lower price.

Shipping

Where do you ship?

Within the continental United States only. We can't currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, P.O. boxes, APO/FPO addresses, or outside the US.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free on all orders within the continental US.

How fast will I get it?

Orders are processed within 0–1 business day and typically arrive within 3–5 business days after that, via FedEx or UPS. You'll get a tracking number by email once it ships.

Returns & Refunds

What's your return policy?

You can request a return within 15 days of delivery. An unused scooter in original condition and packaging gets a full refund with no restocking fee.

Can I return a scooter after I've ridden it?

A used or ridden scooter generally can't be returned for a standard refund. If one is sent back, it's inspected and any refund is reduced by a restocking fee based on condition and use. We recommend inspecting your scooter before your first ride.

What if my scooter arrives defective or damaged?

You're covered. Contact us within the return window with photos, and we'll arrange a repair, replacement, or refund at no return-shipping cost to you.

Who pays for return shipping?

For change-of-mind returns, the customer pays return shipping. For defective or damaged items, PIKA pays.

How long do refunds take?

Once we receive and inspect your return, approved refunds are processed within 5–7 business days to your original payment method.

Warranty

What warranty comes with the Zero 9?

A 12-month limited warranty, honored directly by PIKA, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

What does the warranty cover — and who pays shipping?

It covers parts and repair (or replacement) for manufacturing defects. For approved claims, PIKA covers the shipping. It does not cover normal wear, crash damage, water damage beyond the IP54 rating, or unauthorized modifications.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Email info@pikaescooters.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or a short video. We'll respond within 1–2 business days.

Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

All methods offered through Shopify Payments: major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Payments are processed in a secure, PCI-compliant environment. PIKA never sees or stores your full card number.

Can I pay in installments?

If buy-now-pay-later options (such as Shop Pay Installments or PayPal Pay Later) appear at checkout, you can use them, subject to that provider's approval and terms.

Riding, Safety & Legal

How old do I need to be to buy and ride?

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase and to ride a PIKA scooter.

Do I need a license or registration?

It depends entirely on where you live. Electric-scooter rules — including licensing, registration, minimum age, and where you can ride — vary by city and state. Check your local laws before riding; it's your responsibility.

Do I need a helmet?

We strongly recommend always wearing a properly fitted helmet, and following all local traffic laws. Riding an electric scooter carries real risk — ride within your ability and stay visible.

Can I ride it in the rain?

Light rain and wet roads are fine — the Zero 9 is IP54 water-resistant. But it's not built for deep puddles, heavy downpours, or submersion. Avoid standing water and dry it off afterward.

Care & Maintenance

What maintenance does it need?

Very little. Check the stem and handlebar bolts monthly (folding scooters naturally loosen over time — a quick fix with the included tool), keep the tires aired up, avoid deep water, and charge before the battery hits zero.

The tires are air-filled — will they go flat?

A flat is possible with any air tire. We recommend adding a bottle of tire sealant on day one, and the split-rim design makes tire service easier than most scooters. Two minutes of prevention beats a roadside flat.

How should I store and charge it?

Fold it and store it indoors at room temperature — under a desk, in a closet, or by the door. Charge it indoors with the included charger, and avoid leaving the battery fully drained for long periods.

Will the battery lose range over time?

Some gradual reduction in capacity and range is normal for any lithium battery over its life and isn't considered a defect. Good charging habits help it last longer.
